    A SATA cable will connect the Xbox 360 DVD drive to your computer.

    Xbox 360 consoles are manufactured with DVD drives inside that read game and movie discs. You can use your computer and freeware Internet software to "flash" or edit the Xbox 360 DVD drive's .BIN firmware files for use running custom code on the console. Flashing the Xbox 360 DVD drive will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

    Read Things You'll Need:

    * Xbox 360
    * Torx screwdriver (size 7)
    * SATA cable
    * Computer
    * .BIN edit program (JungleFlasher)

    1.

    Unplug all cables from the rear of the console and remove the faceplate from the front of the system. Unclasp the plastic tabs on the outer case and remove the outer shell from the console. Unscrew the Torx screws and lift open the metal case. Unplug the DVD drive SATA cable and connect your own SATA cable from your computer to the 360 DVD drive. Turn on your computer.
    2.

    Open a web browser and download the freeware program JungleFlasher. As of September 2010, JungleFlasher is the most stable and updated program for flashing the .BIN firmware on an Xbox 360 DVD drive. JungleFlasher is also the only 360 .BIN application that can operate within Windows (earlier programs required MS-DOS). Run JungleFlasher and click "Flash Xbox 360 DVD .BIN" from the main menu, then select your Xbox 360 and click "OK." The program will begin flashing the .BIN file of your Xbox 360's DVD drive.
    3.

    Wait for the flash session to finish, then close the program and turn off the computer. Unplug the SATA cable from the Xbox 360 DVD drive to your computer, then reconnect the SATA cable from the Xbox 360 console to the DVD drive. Close the metal case and rescrew the Torx screws. Replace the plastic shell on the console and return the faceplate to its original position. Return all video and power cables to their original positions before turning on the Xbox 360 again.
